The Champions of Change Gala, a premiere meant to become a tradition

Ambitious, resourceful, active participants in the life of their communities and willing to make a change in the Republic of Moldova – this is how winners of the Champions of Change 2019 award can be described. During the Champions of Change 2019 Gala, held in Chisinau on 19 April, three of them received a grant of EUR 1000 to implement easier their ideas: Ion Babici, Mihai Chitaica and Ask a Mom community.

The Champions of Change project is implemented by the Laboratory of Initiatives for Development (LID Moldova), in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Germany). Between 15 March and 17 April 2019, young entrepreneurs, opinion leaders, analysts, people with remarkable results in community activities and/or of public interest signed up for competition, or set new standards in their area of work. LID Moldova team nominated the winners of Champions of Change 2019 award according to the following eligibility criteria:

• the candidate’s initiatives/projects are sustainable and have an impact in the society;
• they set up and promote new standards and expectations in their area of work;

• the promoter has a faultless personal and professional integrity and reputation;
• the participant is open to cooperate and support similar or related initiatives, including by exchanging
experience and mentoring;
• the candidate is dedicated to defend and promote human rights and fundamental freedoms, as
well as democratic values.

The competition has three special awards: Junior, Senior and Ambassador — a grant of EUR 1000
